A Warming Brit Feeling- Brit Masterpieces Tour of PBS Filming Locations
By Bob Mandell
With the coming of October, SW Florida is healing from Hurricane Irma’s wrath, I think it is fair to say that we need something warm and fuzzy!
How nice it has been that our local PBS station, WGCU is showing an encore of Downton Abbey, the extraordinary multi-year hit. Plus the new season of Poldark!
These are such beautifully done productions that it warms my heart. And it makes me look forward to this coming May 2018 when some very special people will be joining us to see the locations where these, and several other Masterpiece Shows were shot.
We are so much looking forward to our private visit to the real Downton Abbey, Highclere Castle, and also to visiting Cornwall where Poldark is being shot. Don’t forget your cameras!
These are but two of our really unique and special experiences on the Brit Masterpieces Tour.
We will also be focusing on Sir Winston Churchill, with visits to The War Rooms in London and his home, Chartwell in Kent. And be going to York where Victoria was mostly filmed. I also noticed that Grantchester will be starting up again later this year, and we will be visiting the filming location. Plus a walking tour of the University city of Cambridge nearby.
We will be spending 14 nights exploring places in England where I dare say, few have seen, even those who are well traveled. We will be staying in 4 and 5-star hotels, and dining in some likewise interesting and special places. There will be some time to shop, and do some independent exploring.
